Ventana El Rey Build Review

Ventana El Rey Build ReviewThe Ventana El Rey is a beautifully crafted, made in the USA, bike frame. I have owned another Ventana in the past, so I expected a lot from this bike from the beginning .
The build process went without a glitch. There was no paint on the headset to frame interface. This is nice to see. I was taught that when you press fit a part you want metal on metal for the best results .
The machining looked awesome. I expected this when I bought the frame. After all this is one of the reasons you buy a Ventana in the first place .
The bottom bracket shell was faced and chased and very little effort was required to install the bottom bracket. Just anti seize the bottom bracket and plug away.
I was very happy when I inserted my seat post and found the seat tube to be properly reamed. One of the most frustrating things when you install a seat post is when you pull it out and you see scratches all over your post because of improper reaming. I did not expect this to be a problem on this frame but it is worth noting.
On my first Ventana I was blown away at the quality of the welds. On this Ventana I was not nearly as impressed. From a company that puts a sticker on the frame that boasts "Electric Sex Welds " I did not get the warm fuzzy feeling I was expecting.
Once again my expectation was extremely high.
I have no doubt in the strength of the welds, I guess I just expect the best. They were really good but I have seen many as good or better .
Over all I would still rate the build quality as excellent. You can bet money on the quality and structural integrity of any Ventana frame
